Founded as an orphanage in 1888, Five Acres today is dedicated to helping children become caring and productive adults by building on their strengths and those of their families and communities. Five Acres works to prevent child abuse and neglect, care for, treat and educate emotionally disturbed, abused and neglected children and their families in residential and outreach programs, advance the welfare of children and families by research, advocacy and collaboration, and strive for the highest standards of excellence by professionals and volunteers.
Five Acres served 1,089 children and 892 adults in the past year in a multitude of programs. Its services include residential treatment, a therapeutic school, family group homes, foster care program, in-home treatment and support for families in crisis, neighborhood strengthening and one of the nation's few comprehen-
sive deaf services programs for abused children.
The Jaycees will provide lunch, Easter crafts, an Easter egg hunt and a visit from the Easter Bunny. We are looking for committee members !
