Founded in 1929 on the simple concept of leadership training through community service, the Pasadena Junior Chamber and its affiliated 501(c)(3) Foundation serve the community by supporting projects whose primary focus is to preserve and enhance the lives of youth, families and seniors in the greater Pasadena area. From raising funds to hands on human service projects, the Jaycees provide leadership and service unmatched by other organizations. The City of Pasadena Human Relations Commission recently awarded the Pasadena Jaycees with distinction for its long time service to the community and for its efforts to unite various groups and people in the city that otherwise would be unlikely to get together for common purpose service projects.
The Junior Chamber of Commerce Foundation would like to ask for your personal involvement and/or financial support with carrying out its community service mission. We recommend that you speak with a Board member directly to learn more about the organization and how you can help. We would be happy to have you participate first hand to experience the positive impacts our efforts have had on the community.
The following is a partial description of the Pasadena Jaycees larger community service projects.
Easter Project provides a day of Easter fun to children living at 5 Acres, a local residential facility in Pasadena. Children enjoy lunch, activities, an easter egg hunt and pictures with the Easter bunny himself.
Back-to-School Day provides needy children with new clothing for school. The children are escorted to a local department store where they choose a new clothing for the new school year.
Foster Family Picnic honors foster families in the San Gabriel Valley with a family picnic in Brookside Park featuring entertainers, food, games, music and fun.
Operation Gobbler is an annual Thanksgiving food drive. Enough food is collected to provide complete dinners to approximately 200 needy families in Pasadena.
Operation Santa has served the community since 1935. The project is operated with the help of the Pasadena Star News, and its late great writer Charles Cherness. It provides Christmas Eve visits to approximately 1,000 needy families in the Pasadena area by a team of Santa, Mrs. Claus and assorted elves who show up to fulfill the needy family's wishes for his family as stated in a letter typically addressed to Santa Claus at the North Pole and provided to the Pasadena Jaycees by the US Postal Service. Each child in the needy family, who likely would not have received his or her choice of gifts, is provided with that by Jolly Old St. Nick himself. The joy on the children's and parents' faces is priceless.
Please help us support these projects going forward through making a tax deductible contribution to the Pasadena Junior Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Once again we would be delighted to discuss the organizations projects and plans in detail and would welcome having you participate first hand to personally see the impacts.
Thanks for your thoughtfulness and support.
